Happy Friday Everyone!
Today I am sharing a birthday card I made for my youngest niece who is turned 4 this week. I've CASED a card made by Kelly Acheson changing up the DSP and stamp sets. This looks complicated but it really is pretty easy. If you know how to cut and score on the diagonal you'll be good to go.
If you enjoy this tutorial, please like, comment and share this post. I’d love to see your take on this card so be sure to share it here on my blog or on the Facebook post so we can see your awesome creations. Assembly Instructions:
After scoring the
thick whisper white card bases, folding and burnishing on the 4 ¾” line, fold and
burnish on the diagonals. One piece
should be folded so that it is folded on the back of itself and to the bottom
left. The other should be folded on itself
and to the top right. Then glue together so that the larger centers are on top
of each other and the diagonal folds meet in the middle and are aligned. Next glue the 5 1/8” x 3 ¾” piece of Flirty
Flamingo cardstock to the center section.
Glue the diagonally cut
DSP and cardstock on to each other and then glue those sections to the folded
diagonal sections of the thick whisper white cardstock. You can then glue the little strips of
cardstock and DSP to each other and glue to the outer left and right sections
on the front of the card.
On the inside whisper
white piece, stamp with the Happy Birthday cupcakes stamp from the Hoot, Hoot
Hooray set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink, color with the listed Stampin’ Blends, punch corners with the Detailed Trio punch and glue to the cardstock layer. Stamp dinosaur onto scrap of whisper white
using Melon Mambo ink.
Next die cut: 1)
dinosaur, 2) the largest Stitched Shapes square out of whisper white scrap and
3) second largest Layering Squares scalloped die out of the scrap piece of cardstock.
Stamp sentiment on the
whisper white square in Melon Mambo and then glue to cardstock square. Pop up the dinosaur with dimensionals and
attach to the square. Probably the most
complicated part of the whole card is getting the orientation of this front
piece correct. Reference the attached
pictures to help. When you open the card completely the square piece is facing
toward you. But when you close the card, due to the twist, the square turns, and
is facing the side. You will first need
to wrap the ribbon around the card.
Center it across the middle of the card and match up both ends of the
ribbon to the right side. Take a small
piece of tear and tape to attach the ribbon to the card behind where the square
will be attached. Then glue the square piece
to the front. Be sure you only place
glue on the top diagonal section. To be sure you’ve got it on straight, align
the top right corner and the bottom left corner in the center crack of the card. Add the bling with the enamel shapes, tie the
ribbon into a bow at the right side and you are done.
