International Highlights | November Winners Blog Hop - Rooted in Nature

It is a privilege to be able to share my projects with you and I can’t wait to visit the other pages in the hop and be inspired by the wonderful creativity of the other Demonstrators from around the world.

I wanted to feature products out of the annual catalog and use a stamp set I hadn't had the chance to play with much.  I played with the stamping off technique and loved the way it turned out.

Dimensions:

• 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″,  Crumb Cake card stock - scored @ 4 1/4", folded and burnished
• 5" x 3 3/4" Old Olive card stock  - embossed using the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder
• 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" Whisper White card stock (outside)
• 5-1/4″ 4″ x 4″ Whisper White card stock (inside)
• 2 1/4" Circle punch out of Whisper White card stock
• Starburst Circle punch out of Crumb Cake card stock

Using the slimmer tree image out of the Rooted in Nature stamp set, I inked up in Old Olive and stamped the image full strength just to the left of center.  Then without re-inking the stamp again, I stamped slightly down and to the left of the original stamp.  I stamped one more time without re-inking to the right and a bit further down and off the page from the first image.  I loved the color variation, depth and dimension it gave to my little stand of trees.  I adhered this layer to the embossed Old Olive layer and then  using Linen thread, I wrapped the card three times on the right hand side and tied a bow in the bottom third of the card.  Then I adhered to the Crumb Cake card base using liquid adhesive.  

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the "thinking of you" sentiment onto the 2 1/4" punched circle.  It is a bold solid stamp so I wanted to ensure I got a good solid inking by being able to re-stamp if necessary. I adhered this piece to the Crumb Cake Starburst piece using liquid glue and then popped up on to the card in the upper right hand section of the layers using several Stampin' Dimensionals.

Christmas Gift Tags & Box

I created these tags and coordinating box for a Shoe Box Swap I participated in this past weekend at an awesome retreat.  Please enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

Supplies used:

·        4 pcs Very Vanilla Card stock measuring 4 3/8″ x 2″

·        4 pcs Very Vanilla Card stock measuring 3 7/8″ x 2″

·        Scrap pcs of Very Vanilla Card stock

·        Scrap pcs of Garden Green Card stock

·        Scrap pcs of Real Red Card stock

·        Delightful Tag Topper punch or Scalloped Tag Topper Punch

·        2” Circle Punch

·        Starburst Punch

·        Detailed Trio Punch

·        Toile Tidings DSP 4 pcs ¾” x 2”

·        Garden Green Ink

 Tag Assembly Steps:

1.      Use Tag Topper Punch of choice for the top of each tag. 

2.      Round the bottom corners of each tag using the Detailed Trio Punch or other corner rounder

3.      Stamp Image and Punch out of scrap Very Vanilla using 2” circle punch

·        Images used in this tag set come from Snowman Season, #Elfie and Perfectly Plaid

Snowman & #Elfie images were colored with Stampin’ Blends

§  Snowman:  Dark Pumpkin Pie, Light Smokey Slate & Light Pool Party

§  #Elfie:  Dark Call Me Clover, Dark Daffodil Light or Light Soft Suede (hair); Cherry Cobbler Light & Dark Combo & Ivory

§  Embellish with gems, Puff paint etc

4.      On shorter tag (2” x 3 7/8”), adhere ¾” x 2” DSP near the bottom of the tag using liquid glue

5.      Layer 2” punch onto Garden Green or Real Red Starburst Punch with Liquid Glue and then pop up onto shorter tag using 2 Stampin’ Dimensionals

6.      On longer tag (2” x 4 3/8”), Stamp, with coordinating ink, the To/From in the upper section of the tag and stamp Sentiment at bottom of tag so that it is visible when shorter tag is placed on top.

You can use any sentiment you like as long as it fits within the 2” width of the tag

o   Christmas Cheer & Happy Holidays come from Itty Bitty Christmas

o   Ho Ho Ho comes from Perfectly Plaid

o   To/From Stamp comes from Snowman Season

7.      Stack the shorter tag on top of longer tag and loop ribbon through hole

·        Fold ribbon in half and push folded end through from front of hole.  Feed ends through loop and pull up.

Gift Tag Box

Supplies used:

·        1 pc Garden Green Card stock measuring 2” x 8 ½”, scored at 4-1/4 & 5-1/4

·        2 pcs Garden Green Card stock measuring 2″x 2”, scored at 1/2″ and 1-1/2″

·        A Star Designer Element

·        1 pc  - 3” length of Gold/Vanilla Metallic Edge Ribbon

·        Scrap of Very Vanilla Card stock

·        Real Red Ink

·        Pine Tree Punch

·        Classic Label Punch

·        Delightful Tag Topper punch or Scalloped Tag Topper Punch

·        Mini Glue Dots

·        Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Box Assembly Steps:

1.      Fold and Burnish folds on all 3 pieces.

2.      Punch both ends of long piece with preferred tag topper

3.      Attach 2 x 2” pcs to form the box on each side using liquid glue.  Be sure to line edges up.

4.      Using Pine Tree punch, punch out tree shape from DSP and adhere to box front with liquid glue

5.      Stamp sentiment using Real Red Ink on scrap of Very Vanilla Card stock

6.      Trim sentiment using the Classic Label Punch

7.      Adhere to box front on an angle using 3 mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

8.      Adhere the Star Designer Element

Holiday Pop Up & Stand Fun Fold Card

While surfing YouTube to get some inspiration for a team swap, I came across a similar card by Lisa Curcio. I put my own spin on it by changing up the sizes a bit, adding details to the backside and using some different stamp sets. The side view shows how the score lines come together to create an easel/box bottom for this card. When folded flat this is the view of the card.  It even fits in a standard medium envelope for easy mailing!

 Measurements

• Garden Green Cardstock
  • Card Base is cut 4 1/4″ x 10″.
    • Score at 1 1/4″, 2 1/2″, 3 3/4″, 5″, 6 1/4″, 7 1/2″ and 8 3/4″
    • On the 5” score line, measure in ½” and cut slit down to 3 ¾” mark
  • 3 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (layer)
• Real Red cardstock
  • 3″ x 4 1/2″ (layer)
  • 2 pcs @ 1” x 4” (front and back panels)
• Whisper White cardstock
  • 2 pcs @ 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ (front and back panels)
  • Scrap for snowflakes
  • Scrap for sentiment

Assembly Instructions:

After scoring the Garden Green card base and cutting the slit, fold and burnish all score lines with your bone folder.

Next, let’s stamp.  On one of the panel pieces of the Whisper White cardstock, center and stamp the Santa image from the Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. On the other panel piece, using the Pool Party ink, stamp the snow flake image, from Snowman Season, in the upper left corner and lower right corners. Then add the “Happy Holidays” sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas with the Real Red ink. Last, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp “Ho Ho Ho” from Perfectly Plaid on a piece of scrap and punch out using the Classic Label punch. Since we are punching, go ahead and punch out 3 snowflakes using the snowflake punch from the Every Season punch pack.

I love coloring using our Stampin’ Blends and this Santa image is a fun one to color. Of course, you could also use our Stampin’ Write Markers if you don’t have Blends.  I used the Soft Suede Combo for the Teddy Bear, the Crumb Cake combo for Santa’s bag, dark Call Me Clover for the presents and the light Cherry Cobbler for the candy cane and bows on the presents.  Ivory was used for Santa’s face and the light Flirty Flamingo was perfect to give Santa his rosy checks and nose. The dark Daffodil Delight gives Santa’s belt buckle that gold color and dark Basic Black was used for his belt, boots and mittens. I also used the black for teddy’s nose.  I finished up Santa’s suit using the Cherry Cobbler combo.  The last thing I did was to give the ball on Santa’s cap some dimension by using the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint.

Now we can put it all together and assemble this fun card. (See the pictures below for further reference).

1. Adhere Garden Green and Real Red layers together using tear and tape or liquid glue.  The Real Red panel is centered with the same border at the top and the two sides leaving the larger border at the bottom.
2. Adhere the Whisper White panels to front and back, also leaving the larger border at the bottom.
3. On Garden Green card base, fold top and bottom sections forward. 
4. Slide the layered panel into the slit and center.
5. Using liquid glue or tear and tape, attach the panel to the card base aligning edges at the bottom of the folded section.
6. Add Glue or tape across the bottom and folding forward from the center, glue top to bottom, aligning at the bottom edge.
7. Next, attach the 1” x 4” pcs to the center sections on the front and back.  I attached my sentiment and snowflakes with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals first and then adhered to the card base, but you could adhere the real red layer first and then add the sentiment and snowflakes.
8. To stand, just press down on the center slit/score line to form the box and you have an easy Pop Up and Stand, Fun Fold Card.
